The Festival opens with a gloriously varied day, starting off with an opportunity to create your own art in response to songs. An exploration of Persian poetry, art and music follows this, with the world premiere of a new work by Iranian composer Mahdis Kashani that fuses Iranian and European classical styles. Our opening-night concert is given by two of the world’s great musicians, Dame Sarah Connolly and Dame Imogen Cooper, in the splendour of the Sheldonian Theatre.
