Festival Chorus Mini-Course - Performance

All are welcome to attend this fun and friendly pre-concert performance of some beautiful Schubert partsongs.

The Festival Chorus is open to all, regardless of experience; read more about taking part. Several workshops and rehearsals take place in the run-up to the Festival.

The Festival Chorus 

Learn, have fun and perform at the Holywell Music Room. 

An exciting mini-course for singers of all abilities covering key aspects of singing from vocal techniques and performance skills to perfecting pronuniciation and learning part-songs ably led by Conductor, Jonathan Williams and Vocal Coach and Soprano, Fiona Dobie. The course culminates in an early evening concert on the opening weekend of The Schubert Project. The participation fee includes over 14 hours of study/rehearsal time, two complimentary tickets to a lunchtime recital (selected recitals only) and a Festival Chorus Concert Programme.

Introductory Study Day

10am Welcome and coffee

10.20am Introduction to Schubert’s part songs, given by Richard Wigmore

11am Vocal Techniques - Fiona Dobie (with Jonathan Williams and accompanist)

12 Music Rehearsal - Jonathan Williams and Fiona Dobie (with accompanist)

1-2 Lunch break

2-2.30 German Pronunciation – Prof Norbert Meyn (RCM & Guildhall School of Music and Drama)

2.30-4 Music Rehearsal – Jonathan Williams (with accompanist)
