Preconcert talk at 7.00 by Natasha Loges free to all ticket-holders

This concert looks at settings of poems from Goethe's great novel Wilhelm Meister, meeting the characters Mignon, Philine and the Harper. Countless composers have set these poems; we focus on some of the greatest settings from Schumann, Schubert and Wolf. In Wolf’s case, these songs are the first ten of his 51 Goethe settings and they will be recorded for release in our complete Wolf series, which concludes at this Festival.

We are delighted to welcome Daniela Lehner and Neal Davies, both widely acknowledged as leading interpreters of the song repertoire. They are joined by emerging star Louise Alder, who scooped second prize at this year's prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Awards.

Save by buying a Goethe Study Day Pass to all events on 12th October.
