Goethe inspired many of the best-known songs in the canon from an astonishing range of composers. Tonight we hear settings from various works including Faust, Wilhelm Meister, Erwin und Elmire, and the West-östlicher Divan, set to music by Schubert, Wolf, Schumann, Beethoven and others. Festival Director Sholto Kynoch is joined by the renowned Swedish mezzo-soprano Katarina Karnéus and and leading baritone Stephan Loges.
