Liszt songs: Dorottya Lang & Julius Drake

19 October 2011, 7:00pm - 8:35pm

DUE TO ILLNESS THE PEFORMERS FOR THIS RECITAL HAVE CHANGED. If you have already booked tickets and would like to discuss the change, please call Tickets Oxford on 01865 305305 or Oxford Lieder on 07817 927168.

In his bicentenary, we celebrate Liszt’s remarkable contribution to the song repertoire, which is often overlooked when cast alongside his epic reputation as a pianist and composer for that instrument. The songs show a different side to the Hungarian Firebrand and include many masterpieces from a composer who was fully engaged with the texts he chose. Julius Drake needs no introduction as one of the world's leading accompanists. He is joined by Hugarian mezzo-soprano Dorottya Lang, who won third-prize in this year's Wigmore Song Competition.
