Aurora are hailed in all quarters as one of the most exciting orchestras to emerge in recent years. In this fascinating and varied programme, they provide the Festival’s only foray into orchestral works, including the glorious fifth symphony (a tribute to Mozart) and the stunning ‘Gesang der Geister über den Wassern’, a Goethe poem set to music for male voices and lower strings.

After the concert, look out for a late-night performance with the Erlkings, the world's premiere Schubert-based folk/rock band! Details will be announced closer to the time.

Programme:

Franz Schubert:

Gesang der Geister über den Wassern, D714
Selected songs, orchestrated by Reger & Brahms
Symphony no. 5

Benjamin Britten:

Nocturne
