Roderick Williams (baritone)
Andrew West (piano)
Robert Saxton – Time and the Seasons (WORLD PREMIERE – commissioned by Oxford Lieder)
Schumann – Dichterliebe
Pre-concert artist conversation with Robert Saxton and Andrew West at 7.00pm, free to all ticket-holders.
Robert Saxton is one of our leading composers and his new song cycle is Oxford Lieder’s most substantial commission to date. He sets his own poetry. Coupled with this is Schumann’s cycle of Heine poetry, the “Poet’s love”, one of the pinnacles and most popular works of the entire song repertoire. Roderick Williams and Andrew West are certain to give a memorable, illuminating and inspiring rendition of both works.
