The epic Schiller Ballad ‘Der Taucher’ (‘The Diver’) is the focus of this programme, performed by German baritone Christoph Pohl, who recently made his BBC Proms debut to great acclaim as Wolfram in Wagner’s Tanhäuser. He and pianist Marcelo Amaral, described in the New York Times as ‘a superlative collaborator, with colorful, detailed and sensitive playing’, also include water- and nature-based songs.
