Talk and Russian Song Recital: "The Guest from the Future"
24 November 2016, 6:00pm - 7:00pm
As part of Wolfson College's 50th anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to co-present a talk and concert of Russian music, The Guest from the Future, focussing on the poet Anna Akhmatova. This one-hour event will take place in the stunning Leonard Wolfson auditorium (opened in 2013) on Thursday 24 November at 6pm, and is completely free, with no need to book. There is ample parking on site.
Julie Curtis, Professor of Russian Literature and Fellow at Wolfson College, will begin the event with a short talk about the Russian poet Anna Akhmatova and her friendship with Isaiah Berlin (Founding President of Wolfson). Russian soprano Ilona Domnich, a fast-rising star, will then perform Prokofiev's five settings of Akhmatova's poetry with Sholto Kynoch. Ilona Domnich and the Phoenix Piano Trio will also perform Shostakovich's Seven Romances of Alexander Blok.
Tickets are free and booking is not required. More information can be found here.
