The Art of Transcription

Lithuanian virtuoso Indre Petrauskaite performs transcriptions by Franz Liszt of songs by Schubert (including songs from Winterreise, which can be heard earlier in the evening) and Schumann, as well as Wagner and Gounod. As well as sometimes being dazzling showpieces for the piano, these transcriptions also give a fascinating insight into the mind of one composer effectively interpreting the work of another.
