Wedding Gifts

Friday 9 October

The 25th Oxford International Song Festival gets off to a flying start, with an iconic love story setting the scene for our ‘Love Songs’ theme. Harriet Burns, Stephan Loges and Eugene Asti perform Robert Schumann’s glorious cycle 'Myrthen', written as a wedding present for his beloved Clara. Natasha Loges follows this with our first Song Connections event, exploring the romantic intrigues of the Schumann circle. Dame Sarah Connolly and Joseph Middelton give our opening-night concert, with songs by Mendelssohn, Brahms, Debussy and Errollyn Wallen.
