Composer in Residence: Charlotte Bray

30 September 2011

We are delighted to have, for the first time, a Composer in Residence, the outstanding young British composer Charlotte Bray. Described in the Daily Telegraph as "a composer who can generate a Bergian lyrical intensity through both a fluent vocal line and a richly expressive piano part", Charlotte has written a major new song cycle, Sonnets and Love Songs, commissioned by Oxford Lieder, that will be performed by Roderick Williams and Andrew West (Thurs 27th Oct, 8pm).

Her works will also be performed by James Gilchrist with Anna Tilbrook and the Barbirolli Quartet (Tues 25th Oct, 8pm), students from the Royal College of Music (Weds 26th, 1.10pm) and Rhona McKail and Yshani Perinpanayagam (Friday 28th Oct, 10pm).

Visit Charlotte's website to find out more about her and listen to samples of her work.
