Important updates on the Lieder Festival

22 September 2013

Autumn is in the air and Oxford's season of song is fast approaching. For various reasons, there are several artist changes to this year's published programme; in the three evening recitals on 12th, 14th and 17th, and the National Opera Studio recital on 26th. The date for the screening of Tony Palmer's Nocturne has also changed.

Full details are listed below.

Don't forget you that you can still buy a variety of passes, offering especially good value and allowing you to dip in and out of the Festival as you like: details here. Almost all programmes are now online in full.

FULL DETAILS OF CHANGES TO THE PUBLISHED PROGRAMME

12th October: Daniela Lehner has had to withdraw due to health reasons. We are delighted that Katarina Karnéus is able to step in.

14th October: Due to a very minor operation, Christine Rice is cancelling all engagements in October. She will be replaced by Rowan Hellier, who gave the opening concert of the 2009 Festival and has since been at the prestigious Young Artist Programme at the Berlin Staatsoper. Louise Alder has had to withdraw from this concert (she will still appear on 12th) after the offer of a major role over two seasons at Glyndebourne. We are delighted for Louise, and also very glad to be joined by Fflur Wyn, a rising-star soprano with a fast-growing reputation in song and opera.

15th October: Due to emergency roof repairs, the Phoenix Picturehouse will be closed on this day. We have moved the screening of Tony Palmer's Nocturne to Friday 25th October at the same time. If you have already booked tickets, they will still be valid for 25th, but if you need a refund, please contact the Phoenix Picturehouse on 0871 902 5736.

17th October: Andrew Kennedy has had to withdraw due to health reasons. We are delighted that Mark Wilde is able to step into this programme.

26th October: Tenor Luis Gomes will be replaced by Anthony Flaum for the National Opera Studio showcase concert.
