We are delighted to announce British-Chinese composer Alex Ho as our Associate Composer for the next two years. During this time, he will compose two major song cycles for the 2022 and 2023 Oxford Lieder Festivals. The Festivals will also feature a number of his existing works.

Alex Ho is a BBC Music Magazine Rising Star 2022 and is currently Artist-in-Residence at Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier. He is co-director of Tangram, a collective of composers and performers of Chinese and western instruments.

His commission for the 2022 Oxford Lieder Festival will be a co-creation with the Singaporean poet and long-time collaborator Theophilus Kwek. It will be premiered by mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron and BBC New Generation Artist Kunal Lahiry.
