Its locks are crowned with the sun’s coronet,
Its warm breath sets the flower-bells ringing.
A golden ribbon encircles its blue brow,
Ripe fruit falls heavily from the boughs,
And scythe and sickle flash across plain and field,
And the whole world is red with roses.

A blue summer, laden with light and heat,

Passes over meadows, fields and gardens,
