Gordafarid
English source: Nazli Tabatabai-Khatambakhsh

Two Queens that never did meet
You too, may be without a hand to hold
Know that another lends their hand,
From across a border, be bold

Kabul was once in Iran
The Queen of it Sindokht
Turan, the place, remains in Iran
The Queen of it Farangis

Sindokht from a cursed line,
Redeems herself through making peace
Farangis centres her moral intellect,
Holding her faith amongst the enemy

She scatters from Turan,
Raises Iran’s future Monarch, the Shah
Sindokht binds peace with the throne
Both Queens change the course of myth

Who am I to tell you this tale?
I am the warrior Gordafarid,
Neither he nor she,
I, too, am a Queen
