Souda, souda sinisorsa

Souda, souda, sinisorsa,
souda tähän rantaan;
pesäs tänne rakenna sen
ritvakoivun kantaan!

Laske, laske, pursi pieni,
laske valkamaani;
purrestasi neito nuori,
astu asuntaani!

Tääll' on sija suoritettu
sammalista sulle;
tule, tule, kultaseni
kumppaniksi mulle!

Tääll' on aallot armahat ja
suuret hongat huojuu;
solkikoivut soreasti
aallon helmaan nuojuu.

Row, row, blue duck
English translation © Maria Forsström

Row, row, blue duck
Row to this shore;
Then make your nest
Next to the weeping birch!

Glide, glide, little boat,
Glide to my harbour;
The young maiden's boat
Is coming to my home!

Here my home is prepared
With soft moss for you;
Come, come, my beloved,
Be my companion!

Here the waves are gentle
Tall fir trees are swaying;
Beautiful birch trees
Lean in over the cove.
