Sügislaul ('Autumn Song')
Estonian source: Minni Nurme

Jälle tulnud on pimedad ööd,
Jälle kased on koltuma löönd.
Tuulest kantuna lendlevad lehed,
Kurba kahinat akna all tehes,
Vastu ruutugi lendavad nad
Rinda valusa nukruse saan.

Miks nii kiiresti minugi päevad
Aega andmata kaduma läevad
Aega andmata nõnda kui tuul
Lehti armutult raputab puult

Jälle kased on koltuma löönd.
Tuulest kantuna lendlevad lehed,
Kurba kahinat akna all tehes,
Vastu ruutugi lendavad nad
Rinda valusa nukruse saan.
Jälle tulnud on pimedad ööd.

Autumn Song
English translation © Kai Rüütel

Again have come the dark nights,
Again the birches are turning yellow.
Leaves fly in the wind,
Sorrowfully murmuring under my window
They fly against the windowpane
In my breast comes a painful sadness.

Why do my days also pass so quickly
Without giving time, get lost
Without giving time, as the wind
Without mercy shakes the leaves from the trees.

Again the birches are turning yellow.
Leaves fly in the wind,
As I murmur sorrowfully under my window,
Against the windowpane they fly
In my breast comes a painful sadness.
Again have come the dark nights.
