That misty, distant glow
All shimmering in the twilight
The town I used to know
A ghostly breeze from nowhere
Disturbed the slate-grey sea

A ghostly breeze from nowhere
Disturbed the slate-grey sea
With each of my boatman’s oar-strokes
The town came nearer to me
The sun I thought had vanished
Suddenly shone once again
And lit the place precisely
Where once I loved, loved in vain.
