Graham Johnson, one of the world’s leading Schubertian pianists and scholars, gives his annual lecture recital, retracing Schubert’s life 200 years on. 1825 was one of Schubert’s happiest years and offers rich pickings in song terms. In the evening, Schubert & Co. return to the Festival with their signature Schubertiade: a recreation of the social gatherings for which Schubert wrote some of his most deeply personal music. The Erlkings continue their residency with a programme of their favourite arrangements (under-35s tickets only).
