48. Housman's Myth-Making

20 October 2019, 2:30pm - 3:00pm

Please note this event is FREE for ticketholders of 'On Wenlock Edge' at 3pm.

As part of his attempt to separate his poetry and his profession as a classicist, A. E. Housman downplayed classical references in his verse. Jennifer Ingleheart, Professor of Latin at the University of Durham, explores the significance of some of his classical myths and allusions explores.

We are delighted to hold this event in the newly-refurbished auditorium in St John's College, where A.E. Housman read Classics before going on to be one of the foremost classical scholars of his day.
