60. Transcultural Encounters: Jennifer Wong, Fleur Barron, Kunal Lahiry, Alex Ho
26 October 2022, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Following their lunchtime recital, Fleur Barron and Kunal Lahiry are joined by composer Alex Ho for a discussion led by poet and Humanities Cultural Programme Visiting Fellow Jennifer Wong, that explores their identities as Asian artists in relation to diverse traditions of classical song. How does art song connect to diaspora identity? To western imperialism in the East and the historical development of art song? What is the role of these songs today in recital programming? The conversation will also feature musical examples performed by Fleur and Kunal.
This event is generously supported by TORCH (The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities).
