Andrew Goodwin & Daniel de Borah
24 October 2007, 8:00pm
Australian-born duo Andrew Goodwin and Daniel de Borah have notched up a string of successes between them since establishing themselves in Europe; Andrew Goodwin has been awarded the Tait Memorial Trust Scholarship and won second place in the Yelena Obrastzova singing competition, and Daniel de Borah was selected for representation by the Young Concert Artists Trust two years ago, and recently won the piano section of the Royal Over-Seas League Competition.
Both performers have studied for several years in Russia, Andrew Goodwin recently taking on the role of Lensky (in Eugene Onegin) in a Bolshoi Opera production – a feat rarely achieved by a foreigner – so it is particularly exciting that they present an all-Russian second half in tonight’s programme, exploring the passionate and fiery world of Russian song through two of its greatest names, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky.
