As a scintillating extra to our weekend of Britten songs, the prize-winning Francoise-Green Piano Duo present an early-evening concert in place of a pre-concert talk. One of Britten’s only works for two pianos is set alongside Colin McPhee’s transcriptions of Balinese gamelan music; Britten had visited Bali and was fascinated by the music he heard there, and he famously recorded these arrangements with Colin McPhee.
