Hugo Wolf, performed by Mary Bevan, Quirijn de Lang & Sholto Kynoch
18 October 2011, 7:00pm - 8:35pm
Pre-concert talk at 7pm given by Amanda Glauert (free).
Our survey of every song Wolf wrote, all of which are being recorded for release on “Oxford Lieder Live”, continues with a number of early, rarely-heard songs, showing the composer finding his own, unique voice, as well as his better-known settings of Keller and Ibsen.
Mary Bevan is a true rising star on the UK music scene and she is joined by the young Dutch baritone Quirijn de Lang, who has also been forging an impressive reputation in this country, with lead roles at ENO, Scottish Opera, Garsington, Grange Park and Opera North.
This concert is beng recorded for release as part of the Hugo Wolf: The Complete Songs series on 'Oxford Lieder Live'.
