Ned Rorem - European premiere of Evidence of Things Not Seen (The Prince Consort)

Ned Rorem

Evidence of Things Not Seen

Ned Rorem is the leading American composer of songs alive today, and it is a privilege to host the European Premiere of his epic song cycle “Evidence of things not seen”. The cycle is written for four singers and piano, containing solo songs, duets, trios and quartets, and showing the full breadth of Rorem’s style. It contains a wonderful selection of poetry from a wide range of poets; some humorous, some tragic, and some simple love songs.

The Prince Consort were a highlight of last year’s Festival (performing a “Zigeunerlieder” programme) and it is a pleasure to welcome them back. They have a strong and well-deserved reputation for innovative programming, and for performances that are full of energy and insight.

…remarkable ability to distill a precise mood with the greatest economy… his lyricism so supple and natural it seems as pervading as a gentle breeze
