Oxford Lieder Schools' Project 2022: St Francis C.E. Primary School at St John the Evangelist Church

04 April 2022, 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Directed and introduced by John Webb.

This year sees the first of our expanded Schools' Projects in which we have been working with five classes from St Francis C.E. Primary School in Oxford. Since September, the children have taken part in singing, writing and composition workshops. During the first term, as well as enjoying activities with a singing leader, the children composed words and music to their own songs based on topics they were studying in class and presented them at their Christmas sharing assembly. This term, classes visited the Ashmolean Museum to seek inspiration for their songs and this end of project concert sees all five classes come together to perform the works they have composed and written under the guidance of our inspirational workshop leaders - composer John Webb and writer Alan Durant. Supported by tenor Daniel Norman and pianist Jâms Coleman, this concert promises to showcase a wonderfully committed performance of some imaginative and energising new work.
