Joan Rodgers is known as one of the foremost interpreters of Russian repertoire and tonight she performs Britten’s only work in Russian as well as the remarkable settings of Alexander Blok by Britten’s friend, Shostakovich. For these songs, she is joined by the Phoenix Piano Trio. Schumann songs and his ravishing Phantasiestücke for piano trio, as well as Clara Schumann's enchanting "Romances" for violin and piano, complete a memorable evening.
