Cities of Song
People, Places, Music
Welcome to the Oxford International Song Festival 2024. Across a thrilling fortnight (11-26 October) we welcome artists including Roderick Williams, Carolyn Sampson, Christoph Prégardien, Helen Charlston and Nicky Spence.
'Cities of Song' explores composers in the cities that inspired them, including Haydn visiting Oxford, Schubert's Vienna, Fauré's Paris, and more. We mark the anniversaries of Fauré, Schoenberg and Byron, and ten years after the start of our prize-winning Schubert Project, we continue to celebrate this seminal figure with our much-loved Schubert Weekend.
Concerts and events take place throughout each day, with the song recitals complemented by choral and chamber music, including performances by the choirs of Merton and Worcester Colleges, the Doric, Chaos and Castalian String Quartets, Ensemble 360 and Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective. Masterclasses, talks, tours and more complete the programme.
