Songs by Franz Schubert (Papadakis / Simmonds / Spence / Stone / Kynoch)

15 October 2011, 7:00pm

7pm: Pre-concert talk given by Richard Wigmore (free)

Schubert wrote part songs throughout his life, with and without piano and for various combinations of voice. In this concert, four outstanding singers - an impressive quartet - join Festival director Sholto Kynoch.

As an addition to the complete songs of the final five years of his life, we also include several of these works, alongside settings of Schlegel, Schober, Schulze, Leitner and Scott.

The Schubert weekend features every song Schubert wrote from Die schöne Müllerin in 1823 to the end of his life in 1828 in nine recitals from 14th - 16th October.
