Adèle
French source: Jean Giraudoux

A Douvres un original
Tombe un jour dans le chenal.
Il appelle au sauvetage.
Il se cramponne au récif.
Mais vers lui nul coeur ne nage...
Adèle, ainsi meur l'oisif.

Adèle
French translation © Richard Stokes

In Dover an ecccentric
Falls one day into the channel.
He calls the lifeguard.
He clings to the reef.
But not a soul swims out to him...
Idlers die like that, Adèle.
