Danse, danse dukke min!
Danish source: Hans Christian Andersen

Danse, danse, dukke min!
Nej, hvor frøkenen er fin!
Kavaleren ligeså,
han har hat og handsker på,
bukser hvide, kjole blå,
ligtorn på den store tå.
Han er fin, og hun er fin.
Danse, danse, dukke min!

Her er gamle Lisemor!
Hun er dukke fra i fjord;
håret nyt, det er af hør,
panden vasket er med smør;
hun er ganske ung igen.
Kom du med, min gamle ven!
I skal danse alle tre,
det er penge værd at se.

Danse, danse, dukke min!
Gør de rette dansetrin!
Foden udad, hold dig rank,
så er du så sød og slank!
Neje, dreje, snurre rundt,
det er overmåde sundt!
Det er nydeligt at se,
I er søde alle tre.

Dance, dance, doll of mine!
English translation © Jean Hersholt

Dance, dance, doll of mine!
The girl doll's dress is very fine.
The boy doll is a dandy, too;
He wears gloves and hat and shoe;
White pants, blue coat, him adorn;
On his toe he has a corn.
He is fine and she is fine.
Dance, dance, doll of mine!

The old doll's name is Lise-moér;
She is from the year before;
Her hair is new; it's made of flax,
Her Forehead polished up with wax.
Young again, not old and done.
Come along, my cherished one,
Let us dance a fast gavotte;
To watch, it is worth a lot.

Dance, dance, doll of mine!
Watch your steps and get in line;
One foot forward; watch your feet.
Dancing makes you slender, sweet.
Bow and twist and turn around;
That will make you hale and sound.
What a sight it is to see!
You are doing fine, all three.
