Kéž duch můj sám ('Leave me alone')
Czech source: Otilie Malybrok-Stieler

Kéž sám a sám duch můj by sníti směl,
kéž v srdci mém tu rozkoš nikdo neruší,
ó, přejte blaho vše i bol ten mé duši,
jejž lká i jásá, co jej zrak můj zřel!

Kéž duch můj sám! Neplašte svatý klid
V mých ňadrech svými zvědavými slovy,
mé blaho rajské nikdo nevypoví:
s obrazem lásky své chci sama být!

Zář svitla kouzelná mi v duši mé,
slast onu nelze líčit, jež mne jala,
již jeho láska ve mně rozpoutala,
zář lásky té mně plá, mně jediné!

Kéž duch můj sám!

Kéž sám a sám duch můj je s tíží tou,
jež plodí žal i po tmách jasné světlo,
a kdyby srdce tvé vše k smrti hnětlo,
ty sama víš, co tak tě činí blaženou!

Kéž sám a sám duch můj by sníti směl!
Mne v lásce má! Ten svatý mír mi přejte,
jejž dává slovo to, a víru mějte,
že bez něho by touhou duch můj mřel.

Mně přejte mír!

Leave me alone
English translation © Anon.

Leave me to walk alone in my dreams,
Do not disturb the ecstasy within my heart!
Leave me all the rapture, leave me the pains
That have filled me ever since I saw him!

Leave me alone! Do not dispel the peace
Within my breast with your loud words!
That I may see him and hear him everywhere:
Leave me alone with the light of his image.

Do not inquire after the magic that fills me;
In any case, you could not comprehend the bliss
That his love has allowed me to feel,
The love that is for me, only me alone.

Leave me alone, alone with my burden
Of fervent agony, of blazing rapture;
And if it should crush you, my poor heart:
You bear only that which you received from the beloved!

Leave me to stand alone in my dreams!
For he loves me! Leave me the deep peace
That this word gave me; separated from that word,
My soul would have to perish in yearning.
