Otilie Malybrok-Stieler

Otilie Malybrok-Stieler was a German poet and translator. Her works were on occassion published under the name Ottilie Kleinschrod. She translated texts of Czech songs, poems and opera librettos into German and often expressed in her own work her love for the Czech nation. In 1880 the first collection of Czech national songs was published in German translation by Malybrok-Stieler. Through her efforts to promote Czech poetry and music Germany, she gradually won the respect of the Czech cultural public.
