Shining Armour: Roderick Williams, Alison Rose, Victoria Newlyn & Iain Burnside

27 October 2015, 7:30pm - 9:00pm

Roderick Williams baritone
Alison Rose soprano
Victoria Newlyn narrator
Iain Burnside piano

For his only cycle, Die schöne Magelone, Brahms was drawn to Ludwig Tieck’s novella The wondrous love story of the beautiful Magelone and Count Peter of Provence, which inspired some of his greatest songs. These are heard here with narrated interludes created by Iain Burnside, illuminating both the story itself and the relationship between Brahms and Clara Schumann.
