Tangram, a pioneering music collective and Associate Artists at LSO St Luke's, makes their Oxford Song Festival debut. Today, Tangram unveils 'Three Pebbles,' a thoughtful exploration of Asiatic and Asian-diasporic experiences through the medium of the voice. Their artistic practice transcends established Western conventions of songwriting, songmaking, and songsinging, intricately interweaving genres, temporalities, and geographies.
'Three Pebbles' is an assemblage of rituals, some that trace our differences and others that offer opportunities for belonging - even for a moment. The repertoire comprises reinterpretations of existing compositions, original creations, and improvisations.
"truly innovative...they're breaking down borders with stylish communication and spirit" - RPS Young Artist Nomination 2023
"Powerfully theatrical...unexpected and refreshing" - Tempo Journal
"More like a festival than a concert" - I CARE IF YOU LISTEN
"Tangram are a collective we should all listen to. They have a distinctive group personality, taking us well beyond clichés about East-West connections and breaking down barriers. Their ideas are at the cutting edge of contemporary debates around identity and how this is expressed and communicated in musical terms." - I CARE IF YOU LISTEN
