Our Mastercourse begins today. Each day the eight duos of our Young Artist programme study with lead tutor Jan Philip Schulze and selected guest tutors, beginning today with Camilla Tilling. For the lunchtime concert, eminent tenor James Gilchrist is joined by the Carducci Quartet for Alec Roth’s cycle Seven Elements – settings of texts by Vikram Seth – as well as works by Bartok and Puccini. In the evening we welcome Anna Prohaska to the Festival for the first time. Joined by pianist Eric Schneider, the superstar soprano performs her programme ‘Behind the Lines’: wartime texts set to music by composers from the 16th century to the 20th.
