Recordare
Latin source: Liturgical

Recordare, Jesu pie,
Quod sum causa tuae viae,
Ne me perdas illa die.

Quaerens me sedisti lassus,
Redemisti crucem passus,
Tantus labor non sit cassus.

Juste judex ultionis
Donum fac remissionis
Ante diem rationis.

lngemisco tamquam reus,
Culpa rubet vultus meus,
Supplicanti parce, Deus.

Qui Mariam absolvisti
Et latronem exaudisti,
Mihi quoque spem dedisti.

Preces meae non sum dignae,
Sed tu bonus fac benigne,
Ne perenni cremet igne.

Inter oves locum praesta,
Et ab haedis me sequestra,
Statuens in parte dextra.

Remember
English translation © Anon.

Remember, merciful Jesu,
that I am the cause of Thy coming,
and cast me not away on that day.

Thou hast rested exhausted in Thy search for me;
by Thy suffering on the cross, Thou hast redeemed me;
let not so great a labour be in vain!

Just judge of punishment,
grant me pardon as a gift
before the day of reckoning.

I groan as if I were guilty,
my face grows red with blame;
spare me, God, when I pray to Thee.

Thou hast pardoned Mary of Magdala,
Thou hast heard the crucified thief,
to me, too, Thou hast given hope.

My prayers are not worthy,
But Thou art good, do Thou deal kindly
so that I shall not burn with fire unending.

Show me to a place amongst the sheep
and keep me far from the goats,
setting me on Thy right hand.
