06. Winners of the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform: Siân Dicker & Krystal Tunnicliffe

28 February 2021, 11:00am - 12:00pm

Joël Terrin and Cole Knutson have had to withdraw from this concert due to travel complications around the pandemic. We look forward to welcoming them to the Festival in October, and in the meantime are delighted to welcome back Siân Dicker and Krystal Tunnicliffe.

Siân Dicker and Krystal Tunnicliffe were winners of the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform 2020. Since then, Siân has gone on to win the Singers Prize at the Royal Overseas League competition and she has recently been appointed a City Music Foundation Artist. They gave a stunning recital at the 2020 online Oxford Lieder Festival, and we are very pleased that they are able to join us once again with a superb programme.

They begin with Poulenc's delightful La courte Paille, his last song cycle, written in 1960 for his recital partner and muse Denise Duval. After a group of songs by Schubert, Strauss and Brahms, including two of Brahms's wonderful folksong arrangements, they perform four songs by Gerald Finzi, including the spine-tingling setting of Thomas Hardy's The Clock of the Years. To end the programme, they turn to William Walton and his enchanting, witty and quirky settings of texts from Edith Sitwell's Façade.

Live-streamed from the Holywell Music Room, presented by Petroc Trelawny

This concert will be streamed completely live from the Holywell Music Room. Shortly afterwards, it will also be available to watch again, using the same ticket and link, until 21 March (11 April for Pioneer Pass holders). Click here for further information on how tickets will work this year.
