Come, Comfort of the World: Kate Royal & Joseph Middleton

26 October 2018, 7:30pm 17 May 2024 - 5:10am

Kate Royal is one of today's star sopranos, hailed as a 'compelling recitalist' (The Telegraph) with a 'rapturous voice' (Gramophone). She and well-known pianist Joseph Middleton perform Schumann's settings of the Franco-German poet and botanist, Adalbert von Chamisso: the touching and ever-popular cycle Frauenliebe und -leben, written in Schumann's 'annus mirabilis', 1840.

Other Schumann songs are also included, as well as Samuel Barber's Hermit Songs, settings of anonymous medieval Irish poems translated by, amongst others, W.H. Auden.
