Today we spend the day in Paris, the city of love! Natasha Loges kicks off with an introduction to the extraordinary life of composer Pauline Viardot, ahead of the lunchtime concert featuring works by Viardot and her circle. Claire Booth and Christopher Glynn perform Poulenc’s one-woman opera 'La Voix humaine' (in the composer’s own piano arrangement), in which we eavesdrop on a woman as she speaks on the telephone to a lover who has already left her. Katie Bray, William Vann, Murray Grainger and a stellar quartet conclude the day with a special performance of the songs of Edith Piaf.
