The first of this year’s world premieres, by composer John Webb, is performed by soprano Katy Thomson and pianist Rustam Khanmurzin. In the afternoon, Philip Ross Bullock discusses the inner emotional world of Tchaikovsky, telling the story of his life through his songs. Benjamin Appl and James Baillieu conclude the day with songs by Schubert and a homage to Hungarian composer György Kurtág, who turned 100 in February this year.
