Martin Peters Memorial Concert
01 May 2019, 8:00pm - 9:00pm
Martin Peters, who died five years ago this April, was a much-loved member of the Oxford Lieder team, who established and ran our projects in local schools for many years, as well as our residential Mastercourse. This is a celebratory memorial concert for Martin: an opportunity for the many people he knew and whose lives he touched - from the Oxford Bach Choir and the Cathedral Singers, to Benson School where he was headmaster until 2004, around Oxford and beyond - to come and enjoy music together and chat over a drink afterwards.
The concert will raise funds for Oxford Lieder's creative projects in local schools, something Martin was passionate about and was instrumental in creating. We are enormously grateful to tonight's artists, all of whom knew Martin personally and professionally, for waiving their fees in support of Oxford Lieder's work with young people.
Programme to include:
Franz Schubert: Rondo in A major for piano duet; 'An die Musik' and 'An Silvia'
Johannes Brahms: Violin Sonata in G major (1st mvt)
And songs by Vaughan Williams, Strauss, Britten and Mahler
The concert will last approximately one hour, without interval. Drinks will be served afterwards and are included in the ticket.
