Oxford Lieder at Fairlight Hall: Anna Cavaliero & Sholto Kynoch - A Schubertiade: The Seasons in Song
23 May 2021, 11:00am 24 November 2024 - 2:17pm
Anna Cavaliero is one of the brightest up-and-coming star sopranos around: a former student of Barbara Bonney, with numerous prizes to her name, and a graduate of the prestigious opera studio at the Opéra de Lyon. She has given some outstanding performances for Oxford Lieder recently, in our online Festivals and also in January 2020 at Wolfson College, one of our last pre-pandemic concerts. She once again joins Sholto Kynoch, Artistic Director of Oxford Lieder, for a programme of music by the great master of song, Franz Schubert. Anna and Sholto track the seasons through Schubert's music: beginning in the joys of harvest time, revelling in the swirling autumn leaves, pausing for a reflective winter evening, and finally bursting forth with all the optimism of spring. Schubert's sublime music can equally be heard in the works for solo piano - including two of his famous 'impromptus' - that punctuate the seasons in song.
