Shakespeare in Song
24 October 2016, 7:30pm 17 November 2024 - 10:10am
Anne Sofie von Otter is one of the world's pre-eminent singers and it is a privilege to welcome her to the Lieder Festival for the first time. She is joined by pianist Julius Drake and leading British actor Simon Robson for an evening of Shakespeare settings and readings, as we part ways with Schumann for one day. Their programme includes readings from the sonnets, Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream and other plays, with music from Purcell to Korngold via Schubert and Debussy. A truly unmissable evening.
