Emerging Artist: Camilla Harris

Camilla Harris is a young lyric soprano, recently praised by Opera Magazine as “a talent to be reckoned with” and by iNews as the “beating heart of this sparkling production” in her recent Garsington debut as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte. This season she is also covering Musetta for Glyndebourne Festival and Tour.

Recent engagements include Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Helena in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, La Comtesse in Massenet’s Chérubin (Royal Academy Opera), Suzanne in Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoe, 1st Bridesmaid in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro directed by Sir Thomas Allen (Royal College of Music International Opera School), and Countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro for which she was nominated for an OFFIE (HGO). Camilla was also a member of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera Chorus in 2019.

On the concert platform, previous highlights include Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy with the Philharmonia Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall, Stravinsky’s Mass with the London Symphony Orchestra at LSO St Lukes, appearing in the London Handel Festival with London Handel Orchestra at Wigmore Hall, performances with The English Concert and Harry Bicket, and engagements at Cadogan Hall and St John’s Smith Square.

Her debut recording, ‘Songs of Love and Longing’, was released in August by world- renowned record label Linn Records, featuring Romantic song repertoire by composers including Liszt, Rachmaninov, and Grieg.

Camilla was recently selected to represent the UK in the finals of the Vincerò World Singing Competition in Naples. She was a semi-finalist of the prestigious Kathleen Ferrier Awards in 2020, and a finalist in Royal Academy of Music’s Bicentenary Prize.

As a student of Royal Academy Opera, Camilla studied with Raymond Connell and Jonathan Papp. She graduated with the prestigious Regency Award for distinguished studentship at graduation, she was awarded the Tom Hammond Opera Prize, Kendal Prize, John McAslan Prize and was a Bicentenary Scholar. She is a Britten Pears Young Artist and a member of RAM’s prestigious Song Circle. Her studies were supported by the Josephine Baker Trust and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust as a Derek Butler Award holder. She also holds a Master of Performance (Distinction) from Royal College of Music and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from Durham University, where she studied Music. Her formative years were spent as a chorister at Salisbury Cathedral, where she is proud to now be a trustee for the Salisbury Cathedral Girl Chorister’s Association.
