Erika Baikoff
Soprano
Praised for her “seraphically poignant” artistry (Bachtrack) and “bright and buoyant” singing (Houston Chronicle), soprano Erika Baikoff is rapidly establishing herself as one of the leading lyric voices of her generation.
Erika opens the 2026/27 season with Orquestra Gulbenkian Lisbon in Debussy’s La Damoiselle élue under Hannu Lintu, before joining the Brucknerhausorchester Linz and Ivor Bolton for Fauré’s Requiem, Helsinki Baroque Orchestra for Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra for Britten’s Les Illuminations, L’Orchestre de Chambre de Genève for Brahms’s Ein deutsches Requiem, and the Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
Recital work remains at the heart of Erika’s artistic life. This season brings appearances at Wigmore Hall, Schubertiade, and Schloss Ettersburg, alongside solo recital debuts at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Kölner Philharmonie, L’Auditori Barcelona, Oxford International Song Festival, the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, and the Hindsgavl Festival.
On the operatic stage, Erika returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper as Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, performs Handel’s Alessandro in concert with Les Vespres d’Arnadi, and makes house debuts at the Olympia City Music Theatre Maria Callas and the International Händel Festival Göttingen as Ginevra in Ariodante. Previous operatic highlights include her house and role debut as Veremonda in Ambleto at Theater an der Wien; Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, and Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel at the Bayerische Staatsoper; Zerlina at Houston Grand Opera, the heroines in Les Contes d’Hoffmann at Palm Beach Opera; and a major European tour as Ginevra with La Cetra Barockorchester Basel and Andrea Marcon.
Equally in demand on the concert platform, Erika has appeared with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Natalie Stutzmann in Mozart’s Requiem, the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Ravel’s Shéhérazade, Woglinde Das Rheingold with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and Yannick Nézét-Seguin, Jano Jenufa with London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Simon Rattle; Mozart’s Great Mass in C with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra with Nathalie Stutzmann, and Bruckner’s Mass no.3 with SWR Stuttgart and Pablo Heras-Casado.
An alumna of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, the Opéra National de Lyon Studio, the Verbier Festival Atelier Lyrique, and the Académie of the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Erika is a first-prize winner of both the Helmut Deutsch Liedwettbewerb and the Concours international de chant-piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger. She is also a BBC New Generation Artist.
