Georgie Malcolm

Soprano

Soprano Georgie Malcolm is a recent graduate of the Guildhall’s Opera Course, having previously obtained both her MMus & PGDip from the the Royal Northern College of Music. She studies with Christine Cairns and Yvonne Kenny.

Her operatic appearances include the title role in Handel’s Alcina and Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus at the Guildhall, La Contessa in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the RNCM, and Venus in Blow’s Venus and Adonis in a touring production in Italy with L’Offerta Musicale di Venezia. She was an Alvarez Emerging Artist with Garsington Opera in 2025, covering Marzelline in Fidelio as well as singing chorus across their season. Georgie has also worked with Opera North as an extra-chorister in numerous productions including La Traviata and La Rondine; she has recently made a return to Opera North as a cover in their recent touring children’s show, The Big Opera Mystery.

Developing a reputation as a fine concert soloist, Georgie regularly performs in oratorios and other concert works throughout the UK; highlights include Handel’s Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall with the Really Big Chorus, and more recently with Manchester Camerata under Laurence Cummings, Haydn’s Creation at Buxton Festival, and Haydn’s Harmoniemesse with the BBC Philharmonic at the Bridgewater Hall, later broadcast on Radio 3. Her secular concert repertoire includes Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder, Britten’s Les Illuminations and Mahler’s 4th Symphony.

Alongside duo partner Edward Campbell-Rowntree Georgie was a Leeds Lieder Young Artist 2023 and contestant in the Wigmore Hall International Song Competition 2024; the pair also undertook a week-long masterclass on The Art of Song with Mary Bevan and Joseph Middleton at Dartington Festival 2022, and whilst at the RNCM won the inaugural Howard-Williams Memorial Prize.

Georgie was awarded the Leach Award for Singing by London Choral Sinfonia in 2024 for her oratorio and song singing. She received second prize

at the National Mozart Singing Competition 2022, also winning their Schubert prize, and was member of the Wigmore Hall’s French Song Exchange 2023, mentored by Felicity Lott and Francois Le Roux. She is proud to have recently been made both an Opera Prelude Artist and a Samling Artist.

Prior to pursuing singing, Georgie graduated first class in English Literature and French from the University of Edinburgh, and went on to work for some years in publishing in Oxford before taking the leap into music full-time.
