Klara Solén
Mezzo-Soprano
Klara Solén is a Swedish mezzo-soprano, currently in her first year of the Royal Academy Opera course as a Bicentenary scholar, where she studies with Susan Waters and James Baillieu.
Klara completed her undergraduate degree at the Academy in 2026 with first class honours. She made her UK operatic debut in the title role of Rossini’s La Cenerentola with Hampstead Garden Opera in 2025, followed by her role debut as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Dala-Floda Operafest in 2026. Alongside pianist George Herbert, Klara is a Leeds Song Young Artist and a current member of the 2026/27 Oxford International Song Festival Young Artist programme.
In 2027 she will make her Wigmore Hall debut with the Royal Academy Song Circle. Supported by the Josephine Baker Trust, her recent concert repertoire includes Bach’s St John Passion, Handel’s Messiah, Alma Mahler’s Sieben Lieder, and Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Klara is a Neue Stimmen Finalist, a Royal Over-Seas League Competition finalist, and winner of the 2026 Somerset Song Prize and Audience Prize alongside George Herbert.
