Ruiqi Fang is a Chinese pianist based in London, with a strong focus on collaborative piano, art song, and chamber music. He is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in Piano and Collaborative Performance at the Royal College of Music, where he works with Kathron Sturrock, Simon Lepper, Julian Jacobson, and Richard Sisson, following undergraduate training at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing under Professor Zhao Ling.
Alongside his solo work, Fang has developed a particular commitment to collaborative repertoire, working extensively with instrumentalists and singers across China and the United Kingdom. His musical approach is shaped by technical independence and a refined sensitivity to ensemble partnership. He has appeared as soloist with the Central Conservatory Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit, and has given solo and chamber performances in Beijing, Shanghai, and London.
During the 2024–2025 season, Fang has been an active presence on London’s performance scene, with multiple appearances at St Mary Abbots Church, recitals at St Michael’s Church and Westminster Library, and a full solo recital at Stanborough Park Church in Watford. His recent work also includes performances at Conway Hall, where he served as pianist for the 2025 Clements Prize for Composers, premiering newly written works by finalist composers. In addition, he has participated regularly in performance platforms at the Royal College of Music, competed in the Lies Askonas Competition Preliminary Round (2025) with his vocal partner, and studied in masterclass with German art song specialist Markus Shadulla.
Fang’s growing artistic profile has led to his selection for the Oxford Song Young Artist Programme 2026 and the Leeds Song Young Artist Programme 2026, as well as an invitation to perform in the Oxford Song Young Artist Programme 2026 Live Audition Recital. He has also been offered a place on the Royal College of Music’s Artist Diploma programme, commencing in 2026.
Looking ahead to the 2026 season, Fang will present a solo recital Stars of the Future at St Mary’s Church, Luton, take part in the Cavatina Chamber Competition, perform in chamber concerts within the Claremont Project Concert Series, and appear at the Ethical Gala Concert at Conway Hall, London, continuing to deepen his engagement with chamber music and art song repertoire.
Alongside his performance activities, Fang is active as a teacher of piano, sight-singing, and collaborative skills, and has supported students in achieving competition success and professional certification.
Committed to artistic versatility, Fang continues to explore a broad and diverse repertoire, seeking to connect audiences with music grounded in the classical tradition while remaining open to contemporary perspectives and cross-cultural expression.
